About Us

In November 2018, following our 6-month 75-person electoral organizing fellowship, Sunrise Semester, we launched the campaign for a Green New Deal alongside Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In 2019, Sunrise has continued fighting for a Green New Deal and elevating the urgency of climate change in the public and the media. Sunrise Movement Education Fund (501c3) and Sunrise (501c4) are organizations dedicated to supporting the mobilization and leadership of Sunrise Movement.

Position

Sunrise Movement is hiring for a full-time Hiring and Admissions Manager to ensure that the movement is led by a talented, powerful, and diverse group of fellows and staff. The Hiring and Admissions Manager is responsible for identifying talented members of our movement, recruiting applicants to our staff and fellowship positions from both within and outside of the movement, and running rigorous recruitment and admissions processes for our fellowship programs and staff hires. They will ensure that Sunrise has diverse and powerful core leadership by setting and achieving equity and diversity goals in our hiring, admissions, and recruitment processes.

Reports to: Team Support and Culture Director
Key Relationships: Fellowship Program Director, Team Support and Culture Director, Managing Director

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment and admissions processes for Sunrise Semester fellowship program
    ○ Design and manage systems for year-round identification, outreach and recruitment of promising candidates for fellowship, in collaboration with our Organizing  Department
    ○ Create marketing and outreach materials for fellowship, in collaboration with our Digital Department
    ○ Manage fellowship admissions processes from start to finish
  • Manage hiring processes for staff from recruitment to onboarding
    ○ Systematize resources and best practices for hiring
    ○ Manage the timeline of all our hiring processes
    ○ Engage the Sunrise community in helping to find excellent candidates for staff positions
    ○ Ensure that all new staff thoroughly complete orientation and onboarding, and that our onboarding systems are thorough and effective
    ○ Create and maintain a year-round talent tracking system
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity- Ensure that justice, equity, and diversity benchmarks are met in recruitment, admissions, and hiring
    ○ Develop tools, processes, and marketing to recruit diverse and talented hiring pools
    ○ Create and implement best practices in resisting bias in hiring
  • Manage our online hiring platform
    ○ Train users on how to use hiring platform

Requirements

  •  Detail-oriented and highly accountable
  • Flexible, embraces experimentation, and takes initiative
  • Highly skilled in project management
  • Experience implementing justice, equity, and anti-oppression practices
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing needs, problem-solve, and manage contention under pressure
  • Deep enthusiasm for and commitment to Sunrise’s mission
  • Willing to travel nationally approximately 4-6 times per year

Nice to have, but not necessary

  • Experience writing organizational policy
  • Experience with hiring and admissions

Sunrise believes that all Americans are entitled to a $15 living wage; our standard salary offer is based on a $15 base wage, adjusted for cost of living in your home city. We have a formula which incorporates additional salary variables for various factors, which will be shared with all applicants upon receipt of application.
