Starbucks will make about 4 billion cups this year. While disposable cups may seem like they can be recycled, most single-use cups are lined with plastic which makes them difficult and expensive to recycle (for example only 1% of the 2.5 billion paper coffee cups used in the UK each year are recycled). They just end up in landfill. A reusable coffee cup, flask or choosing to dine in (with a mug) instead of getting a takeaway cup are all great ways to reduce this waste.
