The yawning pitchers of Nepenthe

PLANT THURSDAY! The yawning pitchers of Nepenthes are extremely effective at capturing all kinds of prey, from small ants up to even small birds and mammals in some of the largest species that occur throughout South-east Asia. The largest pitchers reach sizes up to that of an adult wellington boot, and are usually found climbing through vegetation in humid tropical rainforests and on the peaks of mountains in Borneo, Indonesia and the Phillipines.
