Description

These bowls are made from the shells of smaller coconuts that would otherwise have been discarded as waste. Each shell is sanded and cleaned into a lovely finished shape. We smooth the outside and make our own pure coconut oil at the centre from coconuts in the village that we polish the bowls with. No lacquers, chemicals or anything artificial is used at all.

These bowls are smaller than our standard coconut bowls and are perfect for serving (and keeping) your hummus, other dips, sauces nuts, seeds and little snacks for the table. They’re also great for picnics and camping.

Our small bowl covers fit perfectly over them for keeping goods in the pantry or fridge, or looking pretty and covered on the table.

As we keep them very natural, please note that their shapes, sizes and natural finish may vary slightly per bowl. We do not cut open new coconuts for our bowls – we use only what the community already used first so we don’t impact this at all. Each bowl has markings unique to your bowl only! 2 bowls are included in your package.

Size: average approx 9-11cm wide by 3 – 4cm high. Sizes vary due to the nature of the shells.

Our coconut bowls are made at our own little centre supporting ethical labor and a happy workplace in rural Cambodia.

Coconut Bowls
These are made from the discarded shells around our local village that otherwise go to waste.

Coconut Oil
We press our own coconut oil at the centre from local coconut trees. We then use this wonderful oil to polish up our bowls once they have been smoothed.

Included in this item is:

2 x coconut dip (small) bowls
Wrapped in eco-friendly custom tissue paper printed with vegetable ink & FSC certified
1 x natural swing tag with compostable label & 100% hemp twine

Rinse your bowl in cool water before use. Do not use with extremely hot foods. Gentle hand wash with lukewarm natural soap and water. Do not use in the dishwasher, microwave or soak for a long period of time. Polish your coconut bowl with coconut oil (or another natural oil you’re comfortable with) as often as you like to restore the smooth and shiny finish. We recommend doing so whenever it’s looking dull or every 10 – 12 washes or so (every 2 – 3 months depending on how often they’re used).

All of our packaging is thoughtful and plastic free. Where packages require padding, we use post-consumer, recycled shredded paper. Our tissue paper is custom designed and uses vegetable ink (rather than standard petroleum-based ink). It is acid, lignin and sulfur free and is FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council for sustainable forestry). Please reuse it where possible. Our mailers and envelopes are made from 100% recycled materials. Our thank you cards are made from 100% recycled cotton t-shirts. Our swing tags are made from card that can be recycled. Sleeves are made from 100% recycled stock. We use paper tape for any additional closures. Please compost and recycle our packaging as appropriate.

At end of life, simply bury them in soil to decompose or break them up and add to your compost. They will biodegrade in landfill.

Dip sized coconut bowl styles are available as shown in the photos. Your coconut bowl may vary in size and style due to the nature of the item. Each bowl is unique!

Made from discarded waste

Coconut shells can be found everywhere we look in Cambodia often burning alongside the road or river or piling up for rubbish collection. Instead of letting them go to waste, we collect them from markets and families which provides a little extra income or rubbish removal and use them to make beautiful bowls!

Plastic free packaging

All of our packaging is plastic free. Your food pockets come in a minimally designed package which can be composted or recycled.
