Hemp is a strong, naturally antimicrobial material, that resists mould and mildew, absorbs a lot of C02 (carbon dioxide) whilst growing, grows much faster than cotton and flax, requires far less land to grow per comparative yield, uses significantly less water than cotton, softens over time, returns up to 70% of the nutrients back to the soil as it grows and doesn’t require harsh herbicides or pesticides.
These sponges are designed to last for up to a year (for cleanliness), and at end of life this product can simply be returned to the ground in compost or buried. Please cut up carefully.
Size Our sponges are all approximately 15cm (long) x 10cm (wide)
Nearly all sponges we buy are plastic and include bleaching, sulfates and synthetic foam. They don’t last super long and are then thrown straight to landfill (taking thousands of years to breakdown) whilst plenty also ends up down the sinks when doing the dishes and wringing them dry. They are also lures for bacteria.
By purchasing this product you are reducing major plastic waste and impacts on climate change, supporting our education and research across the world, providing jobs to vulnerable women in Cambodia in our own little product centre, and helping to support environmentalism & education to kids and communities in Cambodia. You are also helping us to close the loop on our fabric waste.
These sponges are designed to last for a year (the product should last longer but for health reasons this is better), and at end of life this product can simply be returned to the ground in compost or buried.

2x zero waste sponges
This is an easy care product. After each use, rinse thoroughly, wring the sponge out and lay flat to dry. You can pop the sponge in your washing machine on a gentle, cold cycle when it needs a deeper clean (please use natural laundry soaps/detergent where possible).
We only use plastic-free packaging and ensure everything is eco-friendly and beautifully presented. Your item is provided inside a minimal, recycled card packaging box using post-consumer waste. Your item is shipped inside one of our custom boxes which can be recycled or composted and where required is kept protected with 100% post-consumer waste shredded paper (recycled or composted).
Where products are wrapped, our tissue paper is custom designed, eco-friendly printed with vegetable ink. The tissue paper is acid, lignin and sulfur free and FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council to promote sustainable forestry).
Our mailers and envelopes are made from recycled materials. Our thank you cards are made from 100% recycled cotton t-shirts. We use paper tape for any additional closures. Please compost and recycle our packaging as appropriate.
This item is designed to last for years but if it wears out or reaches end of life it can be cut up and buried in soil or added to your compost.
