The lower Tatras of Slovakia

An incredible, quiet part of the world filled with mountains that see local tourists move into wooden log chalets for the ski months of winter sports. Perfect for any summer or winter vacation in a relaxed, laid back village hugged by the mountains and surrounding lakes. The cave system of Demänovská is one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Cave tours were only available in Polish, Hungarian and Slovak so I can’t tell you much about them another than it was a seedy hour to get through this huge system. I recommend hanging by the back and having a little slower wander!
