If you’re in the area of Plitvice National Park (probably your first inland destination in Croatia!) and you’re in your own transport…take a detour before or after and head to Rastoke. About 30 minutes from Plitvice, go in the afternoon before the attractions you’ll want to see shut (all those gardens with mills) and stay for tea in the couple of restaurants with the locals who live here.
