United Nations Day

United Nations Day highlights, celebrates and reflects on the work of the UN and its family agencies. We – and many, many others – use data from various UN agencies to provide us with the numbers, facts and insights of our world.

The UN is not a perfect institute; we don’t know of one that is (green growth is not the answer dear UN), but it does a lot of good, necessary work and it definitely is not easy working in, and bringing together, so many competing countries; particularly as most are now entirely focussed on political wins and economic gains no matter the cost. So thank you, UN.

UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.
