Custodians of Life – Reviving Culture and Nature in Uganda’s Great Lakes

Custodians of Life – Reviving Culture and Nature in Uganda’s Great Lakes is a film documenting the Indigenous Bagungu people of Uganda’s Great Lakes region, and their revival of culture and custodianship of their ancestral lands after decades of dispossession.

The film highlights the importance of decolonizing conservation by removing the top-down management of ecosystems by global NGO’s and governments, and instead giving custodianship back to Indigenous peoples to manage their ancestral lands as they did for centuries.
