Orangutans are endangered because of us

The equivalent of 300 football fields of rainforest is destroyed every hour to make way for palm oil plantations. In the last 20 years, over 3.5 million hectares of Indonesian and Malaysian forest have been destroyed to make way for palm oil. Almost 80% of orangutan habitat has disappeared in the last 20 years, and we are losing over 6,000 orangutans a year. We’ve lost nearly all our tigers.

Making conscious choices when you shop and looking out for palm oil in products will truly help to stop this devastation. This issue is particularly fuelled by our consumer demand. Cutting our processed foods wherever possible and switching our soaps and shampoos to alternative, handmade options (and thereby also supporting smaller businesses) or ones you make will make a huge dent in this.
