Today is World Habitat Day! The 2019 theme is Frontier Technologies as an innovative tool to transform waste to wealth. A bit of a mouthful! Technology is one of the biggest reasons we’re in this mess, but it can also (arguably) improve how we work and live, and fix some of the issues we’ve created to accelerate efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. This year it’s all about using it for waste. First up, reduce! Then let’s see where we’re at.
We have seen some great examples of waste to wealth throughout our research over the past couple of years. Mr Green Africa is a tech-enabled plastic recycling company that tackles waste management problems and Safi Organics in Kenya are decentralizing fertiliser production.
