Made from non-porous borosilicate glass which was founded by a German glass-making inventor named Otto Schott in the late 19th century. It is well known for its resistance to thermal shock, heat retention, is light weight, shock resistant, non-porous and has great optical clarity. Borosilicate is high grade glass free of harmful chemicals.
Everyday, 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed in the world. Annually, over 500 billion disposable paper, Styrofoam and single-use plastic cups are used worldwide (1). These cups use an enormous amount of resources to create, increase C02 emissions and as most aren’t recyclable due to the plastic, they’re sent straight to landfill adding to our waste crisis.
In the UK 7 million disposable coffee cups are used every day – that’s 2.5 billion every year (2).
Americans use 110 million disposable cups every day. (3)
Australians use an estimated 1 billion disposable coffee cups each year (4). That’s approximately 2.7 million cups thrown out every day! Up to 90 per cent of all disposable cups ended up in landfill, equating to around 60,000 kilograms of plastic waste per annum.
With the purchase of every Joco cup you are supporting the efforts of Take 3 to remove hazardous plastic from the environment. All in all, buying a Joco cup this year will result in over 75,000 pieces of plastic removed from the environment.
